Previous kayaking experienceis not required.After transport by van and speedboat from Sandspitto Rose Harbour, you begin your kayak exploration of the Waters of SGaangGwaii. During the tour, you paddle to the abandoned Haida villageof SGaang Gwaii (Also known as Ninstints or Nan Sdins) on AnthonyIsland. Several standing totem poles and longhouse remains are stillprominent in this village. Your trip takes you to a number of remotebeaches; you may explore Rose Inlet, Louscoone Inlet and the West coastof Kunghit Island. After eight days of paddling and camping in thistruly wild region of the coast, you return to Rose Harbour where the boatarrives to transport you back to Sandspit.
- Flamingo Inlet Journey - 12 days
This intermediate journeyis suitable for people with previous outercoast kayaking experience and a strong spirit ofadventure.From Rose Harbour, paddle up the rugged West coastof Moresby Island to explore the remote and rarely visited Flamingo Inlet. Paddle out and around the rock pillars at Cape Freeman and explore theancient Haida village site at Nagas Point. The kayaking itinerary is flexibleto accommodate outer coast conditions. You will have an opportunityto visit SGaang Gwaii during this journey.

The island is perchednear the edge of the continental shelf, with sea cliffs, majestic rockpillars, white sand dunes, surf beaches and lovely hidden coves shelteredfrom the expanse of the Pacific. The kayaking itinerary is flexibleto accommodate outer coast conditions. Depending on weather and seaconditions, you may have an opportunity to visit SGaang Gwaii towardsthe end of the journey. |
